STUDY ISLAND MCAS REVIEW LIFE SCIENCE
Assignment #1 Classification & Cell Structure/Function
2
PROKARYOTES Prokaryotes are simple, single celled organisms,
such as yeast and bacteria. Prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus; the DNA is free floating in the cytoplasm. Prokaryotes do not have any membrane bound organelles.
3
EUKARYOTES Eukaryotes can be single-celled or multi-celled organisms,
such as protists, fungi, plants and animals. Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Animal Cell Plant Cell

CAN YOU MATCH THE ORGANELLES SHOWN ABOVE WITH THEIR FUNCTION?
ANIMAL CELLS BLAST FROM THE PAST! CAN YOU MATCH THE ORGANELLES SHOWN ABOVE WITH THEIR FUNCTION?

Plant cells have a boxy shape due to cell wall.
PLANT VS. ANIMAL CELLS Plant cells have a boxy shape due to cell wall. Plant cells have chloroplasts, which allow them to photosynthesize. Plant cells have large vacuole for water storage. Animal Cell Plant Cell

This lesson will help you to review material
that you learned in Grade 7 Life Science and prepare you for this week’s Study Island lesson. Your Grade 7 teachers send best wishes and know you will be successful on Grade 8 Science MCAS. YOU CAN DO IT!!
