1 Warm Up Get out your homework. We will randomly select 3-4 students to share their worksheet. For at least one of your sources be prepared to discuss how you evaluated its credibility and what impact it had on your argument concerning Income Inequality.

2 Annotated Bibliography
An annotated bibliography is a list of sources together with a very short description and evaluation for each source. Annotated bibliographies are useful to: 1) Keep track of the sources you have found. 2) Help you understand how these sources can contribute to your overall argument. 3) Provide me with evidence that you have actually researched various sources for your work.

3 Annotated Bibliography
There is no universal standard for the format of an annotated bibliography. For this class your annotated bibliography should include. 1) The title, author, publication and date for each source. 2) A short summary of the text. 3) A short summary of the credibility and relevance of the source. 4) A brief comment on how you might use the source (list key evidence, for example).

4 Annotated Bibliography
Example: Edsall, Thomas B. “Why Don’t We Always Vote in Our Own Self-Interest? The Backlash Against the Civil Rights Movement Continues to Confound Us.” New York Times, July 19, Edsall explains how racism, through last place aversion and the concept of deservingness, drives voters to not support programs that actually help them. Edsall uses Kentucky as an example and explains that increasing minority populations may exacerbate this effect. The publication is credible, The New York Times, and Edsall cites several professors for evidence. I plan to cite a study in this article that shows voters don’t support an increase in the minimum wage if it appears to help African-Americans as a partial answer to my research question “Should the minimum wage in the United States be increased to $15 per hour?”

5 Annotated Bibliographies Assignment
Use the Chromebooks to help you find one additional source related to your argument about Income Inequality. Write an annotated bibliography for this source. Be sure you include all of the key components of an annotated bibliography.
