2 The Alabama Crimson Tide collected their fifth national title in nine years after defeating the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime in the College Football Playoff National Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Monday night. While Georgia was enjoying a 13-point lead at halftime Alabama made changes in the locker room benching their starting quarterback (Jalen Hurts) and replacing him with a true freshman Tua Tagovailoa. By the fourth quarter, the Alabama Crimson Tide made up lost ground, bringing the score with Georgia's Bulldogs to The game went to overtime. Georgia went first and managed a field goal of their own, and looked to be in good shape after a 16-yard sack of Tagovailoa on Alabama's first play in overtime. But Tagovailoa found wide receiver DeVonta Smith streaking down the left sideline for a touchdown. Tagovailoa, completed 13 of 23 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 27 yards. The victory, which was as much a Georgia collapse as it was an Alabama triumph, represents Coach Nick Saban’s sixth career national championship.

3 In Other News Super Bowl LII will start off with a bang with international music star Pink set to perform the national anthem. The three-time Grammy-winning artist will sing before kickoff on Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Justin Timberlake is set to perform at halftime. A top-secret multi-billion dollar U.S. spy satellite launched from Cape Canaveral on Sunday reportedly failed to separate from the upper stage of its SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and never reached orbit. The technology website Ars Technica cites one source as saying the "the payload fell back to Earth along with the spent upper stage of the Falcon 9 rocket.” Although there was no official confirmation of the satellite's loss, the U.S. Strategic Command, which monitors 23,000 man-made objects in space, told Bloomberg that it was not tracking any new satellites since Sunday's launch.
