CRITERIA USED Quantity Range/Extent, dispersal, stand size, biogeographic zone, rarity Quality Species composition, sub-types, structure & function, rare species, mosaics ‘Prospects’ Threats, vulnerability, protection, restorability, sensitivity

Approach... • EUNIS level 3 (terrestrial)/4 (marine) • IUCN categories (CR, EN, VU, LC, ...) ‘Collapsed’ replaces ‘extinct’ used for species • Compatible with IUCN global approach (Keith et al in press) • Recomended time frame for trends is 50 years (500 years not realistic in Europe)
