1 Homework Learning Package 1 , BOOK 2
If you are unsure of any of these questions, ASK ME FOR HELP Due Thursday 16th October No homework = Friday afternoon detention with Miss Tagore 

2 Learning question: What is the structure and function of the heart?
Title: The Heart February 2019 Learning question: What is the structure and function of the heart? Homework: AS Human Biology Booklet 2 (Year 12) Learning Package X To better explain the dynamics of cardiovascular function and control, an analogy has been drawn to the operation of a city water supply. In cities that use a water tower, fresh water is pumped up into the tower from a river or other source. The tower serves as a pressure reservoir for providing water to homes through a largely parallel arrangement of distribution pipes. Local homeowners control their own water usage through faucets, whereas the city maintains water pressure by monitoring the level in the tower. Key analogous points with the cardiovascular system are the heart as the city pump, the aorta as the water tower, arteries as parallel distribution pipes, and arterioles as faucets. 3 Key words Cardiac cycle Myogenic Sinoatrial node Atrioventricular node ECG Purkyne tissue Cardiac output Stroke volume Pulse rate

4 Aims from specification
(a) describe, with the aid of diagrams and photographs, the internal and external structure of the human heart (b) describe the cardiac cycle, the role of the valves and the pressure and volume changes occurring in the heart;

5 Use your textbook to label this heart
(a) describe, with the aid of diagrams and photographs, the internal and external structure of the human heart Use your textbook to label this heart Internal or external view? What is the job of the coronary artery? …To supply blood (oxygne, water, nutrients) to the heart muscles…

6 Label to show where blood is going…
to the lungs from the lungs to the body from the body

7 (from the body) (to the lungs) (to the body) (from the lungs) (from the body)

8 Label to show where blood is going…
to the lungs from the lungs to the body from the body Use your textbook to label this heart What does the colour blue represent? What does the colour red represent? Colour the left and right side to show oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood
