2 Who should participate in this program?
1st and 2nd year students that want to get a taste of living abroad Cherrington Students (August + fall Cherrington in Spain or elsewhere in Europe) **this option includes a free plane ticket through Cherrington Students who cannot study abroad during the regular academic year Anyone who wants to improve their Spanish skills during the summer

Spanish Minor/ Major Intermediate (2001, 2002, 2003) Upper level classes: 2100 – Conv. & Comp. 2300 – Iberian Cult.& Civ. 2350 – Latin Amer. Cult. & Civ. 3000 level class Summer Program: 2300 – Iberian Cult.& Civ. (AI-Soc) and One of these two: 2100 – Conv. & Comp / 3000 level

4 DU credits, Iberian Culture and Civilization, taught by DU professor 4 transfer credits, a language class taught by a local professor

10 Dates (July 29-August 23) Four weeks in duration
July 29th – arrival in Spain July 30th - August 23rd Classes and cultural trips on the weekends August 23rd Last day of Program

Medieval town of Santillana del Mar (World Heritage site) Gaudi’s “El capricho” in Comillas

12 Cultural Trips: from Prehistory to Post-modernity
Prehistoric Caves of Puente Viesgo (World heritage site) Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao

13 Housing and Food Can live with host families within close distance of the University (walking or by bus) Private room Two meals per day with the family Laundry service

14 Approximate cost breakdown GO ABROAD and PAY LESS
Students take two classes (earning 8 credits): A DU class for which they pay DU tuition A local Spanish class for which they pay local tuition: $680 (Really cheap!) Room, partial board, excursions, fees: $1,455 TOTAL: $ 2135 NOT INCLUDED: Plane ticket (approx. $800 to $1,200); Tuition for 4 DU credits

15 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
What´s the cost of the DU class? The full price is $5488, but tuition for the 4-credit DU class varies from student to student depending on their scholarships and/or summer financial aid awards. (The financial aid office says that students tend to get approx. the same discount in summer as they do during the academic year.) There is ample financial aid available this summer through DU. Contact the Financial Aid office directly to inquire about summer aid awards
