1 Using Pronouns in prepositional phrases
Lesson 2

2 Lesson 2- using pronouns in prepositional phrases
You often use pronouns as the OBJECTS of prepositions. When the object of a preposition is a pronoun, use an OBJECT PRONOUN. Rita describe the book to me. I will buy a copy for her.

3 Lesson 2- using pronouns in prepositional phrases
Sometimes a preposition has a compound object, that is, an object consisting of two or more words. Always use OBJECT PRONOUNS in a compound object. Have you spoken to Juan and them? I discussed the issue with her and him.

4 Lesson 2- using pronouns in prepositional phrases
When you use the word me in a compound object, make sure that it always comes last. Correct: Except for Joe and me, no one agreed. Incorrect: Except for me and Joe, no one agreed.

5 Lesson 2- using pronouns in prepositional phrases
Avoid using a reflexive pronoun as the object of a preposition when a preposition is needed. Correct: Mr. Li stood between Tad and me. Incorrect: Mr. Li stood between Tad and myself.

6 Lesson 2- using pronouns in prepositional phrases
Directions: Write the word(s) that correctly completes the sentence. Are biographies of contemporary writers more appealing to Ellen and (he, him)? I heard about a book from Ilene and (they, them). Except for Ilene and (I, me) no one liked it. Reading about the life of Jack London was a treat for (Ilene and me, Me and Ilene). To (myself, me) it was well written.
