Take a password sheet from your teacher (if you don’t already have one)
Choose a seat
DO NOT TOUCH THE COMPUTER -yet
Today we will discuss all of your computer logins – please PAY CLOSE ATTENTION SO YOU DON’T MISS ANYTHING!

2. Activating your Windows Account: Follow all steps in order!
Ctrl + Alt + Del (if prompted to on screen)
Click New User
Username:
First initial + Last Initial + ID # (include any leading zero)
Enter your temporary password: school
Make selection to set a permanent password
Enter a new 6-10 character password (school appropriate)
Write your password on the sheet you were given – will be turned in to your teacher

3. Activating your Edline Account Follow all steps in order!
Click on Sign Up (9th, new to PHS and those who did not activate last year – all who activated at PHS last year are still active – login and see updates for )
Enter Activation Code – lowercase, no dashes
Click “Activate this Code”
Click “I Agree” to the terms
Screen Name: same as Windows Username
Password: same as Windows Password
ENTER AN ADDRESS so you may access your account should you get locked out/forget your password

4. Activating your GAFE (Google Apps for Education) Account Follow all steps in order!
Type this URL into the address bar: g.risd.org
User Name: same as Windows and Edline
EXAMPLE

NEW GAFE Users:
Temp PW is risd12345 – set permanent PW to match Windows and Edline
RETURNING GAFE Users:
Your account from last year is still active, login

5. Activating your Turn It In Account Follow all steps in order!
Returning Users: account still active, login and add your English class using the information provided to you by your teacher
New Users: click on Create Account and create an account using your GAFE address and the information your teacher provided you

6. Student Portal Go to bottom of RISD.org home page (Rportal icon)
Click in User Name box – xx (first initial, last initial, student ID)
Click to enter Password – PIN (for first time)
- Or use “forgot your password” if can’t log in
- input appropriate information in following screens
Setting up a password for 1st time user
- password must have 8 characters and be alpha/numeric
Your PIN and login information for student
portal should not be shared with anyone!
