2 Background A British Photographer Born June 11, 1815 in Calcutta
Educated in France Parents were socialites Often traveled back and forth from England and India Started taking pictures when she was 48, in 1963 Apart of the London Photographic Society Considered one of the greatest portrait photographers of the 19th century Died in January 26, 1879

3 Style & Influence Focused on two genre types, portrait and illustrative photography She worked with David Wilkie Wynfield Due to her family connections she took portraits of famous individuals, such as: - Charles Darwin - Ellen Terry - Alfred Lord Tennyson - Robert Browning - William Michael Rossetti - George Frederic Watts. As well as, family and friends

4 Style & Influence She used unconventional techniques
Used a wooden camera All of her photos use soft focus and long exposures She purposefully used messy craftsmenship, to let the pictures speak for themselves Developed photos with several chemicals and silver prints from wet glass plate negatives
