1. INDONESIA TSUNAMI APPEAL
‘You will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.’ Isaiah 58:12

2. On Friday 28 September, a powerful earthquake struck Indonesia.
It led to a six-metre-high tsunami hitting the city of Palu.

3. More than 1,400 people are confirmed dead but rescuers fear this number could rise significantly.
Many buildings have been badly damaged or destroyed. Thousands of homes have collapsed along with hospitals, hotels and shops, and the airport is not functioning.

5. As search and rescue efforts continue, our network of church-based relief and development organisations are preparing to respond to urgent needs.
These include food blankets, temporary shelter such as tents or tarpaulins, and medicines. Children separated from their families are particularly vulnerable, and many people are without clean drinking water or electricity.

6. We are determined to press through to follow Jesus where the need is greatest.
We believe that, through him, we can shine hope in even the most desperate situations.

7. Father God, we pray for the people of Indonesia.
PLEASE PRAY
Father God, we pray for the people of Indonesia.
We lift up to you the families hit by this latest devastating earthquake and tsunami.
Comfort those who have lost loved ones and homes, and help to heal and restore injured people.
Strengthen and guide the search and rescue teams, so that they can help people in greatest need.
And be with Tearfund’s partners and church networks as they respond at this crucial time.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
