4 The Web Interface is where you enter your User ID and Password.
Click the Citrix Web Access icon on KDnet to access the Web Interface Login screen. The Web Interface is where you enter your User ID and Password. Click the Epic Hyperspace icon to open the Epic application. If you do not have the Epic Hyperspace icon, contact the IS Service Desk

5 To log into Epic, you must use the same log in ID and password as you use to login to Citrix (Also referred to as Active Directory, Network, API log in, , Domain ID).

6 Changing your Password
If you want to change your password, you must change it at the network/domain level: You cannot change your password within Epic. You can change it from the initial network login window. You can also use Specops to reset your password. To do this you must be enrolled. Look for this box on the KDnet\Employee Resources page using this hyperlink Employee Resources.

[Instructions] Citrix Client Version Finder Specops Network Change Password Specops Network Password Enrollment Specops Network Password Reset Specops Network Password Reset Documentation If you need to have your password reset and you haven’t enrolled in Specops, call the IS Service Desk at They will reset it for you. Once your password has been changed and you have successfully logged in and created a new password in Citrix, you can log into Epic using the same password.

8 Upon successful sign on, the Department Selection screen will appear with your default Department, click OK to enter; if you have the security to sign into more than one department you can also type that Department (or click the magnify button to choose from the selection list).

9 If you click on the open selection (magnifying glass), the record selection window will open. Go to the Recent tab to see the departments you have selected in the past and switch your department here.

10 Prior to entering the Epic Desktop screen, a system Login Window appears with Security Information, current Epic Updates and relative Message of the Day.

11 Epic Desktop – this is your initial screen, the components will be covered in a later lesson.

12 Securing If you have to leave your PC while working on a patient record, you must secure the screen so that patient information is protected. From the “Epic” menu in the command toolbar, select “Secure” from the drop down list. You can also secure your session from the toolbar.

13 Securing (continued) Once your screen is secured, all patient records you had open will be locked. It is important to close all patient charts prior to securing your session.

14 Logging Out Logging out removes your name from the current program and allows any authorized user to sign in. You should close any patient records prior to logging out.

15 Exiting You can exit using the “Exit” option on the bottom of the “Epic” menu command toolbar option. The correct method for exiting Epic requires you to follow a three step process: Close all open tasks before Exiting Epic. Click on the Log Out button. Click on the Exit button.

16 Changing Departments You can also change the department you are currently logged into by changing the Login Context from within the program. Click on the “Epic” button to select the “Change Context” option.

17 Change Login Context The “Change Login Context” window appears; with the appropriate security, you can log onto another Department by typing the department name, or clicking on the magnify button (or F5) to open the selection list of recent departments.
