1 (For Young Adults) Now That You’re 18
The Inside Story (For Young Adults) Now That You’re 18

2 A Message from Project Real
Congratulations! Now that you are 18 years of age you are considered an adult! That means that many of the laws that apply to you have changed. Those 18 and above are considered the age of the majority, a term used by lawyers to describe the time in life after which a person is legally no longer considered a child.

3 A Message from Project Real
As an adult in the eyes of the law, you now have the right to enter into binding contracts, buy or sell property, marry without written consent, sue or be sued, make or revoke a will, vote in national, state and local elections, consent to all types of medical treatment, and join the military without parental consent. Reaching the age of majority also has its losses such as the right to your parents’ support, care, and shelter.

4 A Message from Project Real
This presentation will tell you what your new rights and responsibilities are as a new member to the age of the majority. In the following slides you will find the laws you must follow and ways to keep yourself safe and protected under the law with your newfound access, opportunity, and privilege. If you are interested in the full PowerPoint, please your request to Sam King,
