King Francis I hires Italian artists to make art for him and encourages nobles to live in Italian style chateaux, or castles
He also encouraged authors to write in the Italian style
Rabelais: physician-monk who wrote The Adventures of Gargantua and Pantagruel. Believed that humans were not tied down by the past and capable of anything.
