1 Weigh & Measure

2 WEIGH You weigh solids to find out how heavy they are, e.g. flour and sugar Solids are weighed in Grams (g) or Kilograms (kg) This is known as metric measurements

3 MEASURE You measure liquids to find the volume or space it takes up, e.g. Milk, Water Liquids are measured in millilitres (ml) or Litres (l) This is known as metric measurements

4 To weigh you can use….. manual scales or digital scales

5 To measure you can use… Measuring Jugs Or Measuring Spoons

6 Ingredients 1 ham stock cube 500ml water 1 small onion 1 potato
Decide what equipment you would weigh and measure the following ingredients. Ingredients 1 ham stock cube 500ml water 1 small onion 1 potato 1 carrot 1 piece turnip 25g red lentils Salt & pepper

7 APPLE CRUMBLE Ingredients: 1 medium sized cooking apple 40g granulated sugar 75g plain flour 50g margarine 40g caster sugar 1 x 5ml spoon Demerara sugar Set oven at Gas mark 4 18O°C1350°F Method Sieve flour into mixing bowl. Using your fingertips, rub the margarine into the flour until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add caster sugar. Peel, Quarter, core and slice apples. Place the sliced apple into the ovenproof dish Sprinkle on 40g of granulated sugar. Place the rest of the apple on top. Bake the apple crumble in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes
