1 The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
Book Review

2 Summary The Outsiders is about two rival gangs – The Greasers and the Socs. Throughout the novel, they get into many fights, one of which ends with a member of the Socs being killed. The death leads to increased violence between the two gangs, but leaves many people wondering if all the fights and violence are worth it. After a serious accident at a church, the Greasers are faced with many questions about whether they should continue to fight, and why they began fighting in the first place.

3 Characters My favourite character in the book is Ponyboy.
Even though he is a Greaser, and many people assume that he is bad, he has lots of good qualities. For example, he gets good grades in school, and doesn’t like violence. Ponyboy’s character makes you question stereotypes about people based on the way they look, or where they come from.

4 Review Overall, I really liked the book!
Even though it took place a long time ago, the story is still relevant today. The book had a good combination of action scenes to keep me interested, but also included moral questions to make me think about the way we see others. I would definitely recommend this book if you like action, but also want to think about some of the stereotypes we believe, and how we could change that.
