A timeline is a method to display or show a list of events in chronological order
Timelines are very usual in school especially for studying history
This is because they can help us visually see and understand the changes that take place throughout history
They are very helpful for us when we need to learn about understanding general events or trends for a specific field

One unique aspect of timelines is that they can take any type or form of time scale
“Scale” is defined as “an arrangement of events used as a measure of duration or time”
days, months, years, centuries, or even eons can be represented on a scale
Although most timelines use a linear scale (i.e event 1-event 2-event 3, etc) there are timelines that can be circular or not linear in scale
The time scale of the timeline can vary depending on the nature of the assignment
For example, if we are doing a timeline of the history of the universe then it may stretch out over billions of years
However, if we were working on a timeline depicting our morning journey to school, then the time scale may only stretch out over a few hours
