2 Process Flowcharts Def: A diagram which represents a workflow or process Why flowcharts? Visualize how work happens Increase understanding and enhance communication Drive process improvement Stimulate organizational knowledge/expertise Improve decision-making You can’t change just one thing!

Step 1: Central Menu Planner create a new menu or modifies an existing menu Step 2: Central Menu Planner enables all of next week’s school menus by the close of business Tuesday Note: Menu items are subject to change due to marketing promotions or product movement needs Step 3: Cafeteria Supervisors then menu plan all meals for the entire week Step 4: Cafeteria Supervisors initialize all weekly vendor orders on Wednesday Step 5: Cafeteria Supervisors finalize all weekly vendor orders by noon on Friday Step 6: School Area Supervisor utilizes the “Missing Order Report” to follow-up with Cafeteria Supervisors Step 7: School Area Supervisors review and approve orders for their schools by the close of business Monday (multiple pages) After: (ONE page)
