3. Student Home Screen Tell the Genie “Hello!”
The next slides will walk a student through Guided Study and how to indicate which material should be entered into their notebooks.
Story: The Genie was born in Egypt over 5,000 years ago. After traveling the world, the Genie decided to live in RM City to help students learn math!

4. Student Home Screen Click “Guided Study”.
You can use this screen to describe the different rooms to students, or you can move forward with going through Guided Study.

Recall: Students will be in Guided Study 85-90% of their time in Reasoning Mind. This is where the curriculum is located and where students will learn and review the objectives.
My Place: Students can find their daily accuracy, two-week accuracy, highest streak, progress, and total points. They can also access their Great Hall and personal library.
Wall of Mastery: Enrichment problems.
Genie’s House: Incentive building with games unrelated to math.
Shopping Mall: Students can spend their points in the shopping mall to get items for their “My Place” Great Hall. (Incentive Building)
Game Room: Math-related games.
Library: Resources for Independent learning!
Office: Where you assign extra assignments
Homework: Where your students find assigned homework.
Mailbox: Message you and the Genie!

5. Objective Roadmap
This screen is also referred to as the Objective Indicator Map. Students can see their progress through their current objective.
Recall: If a student leaves Guided Study and returns later, he or she will always see this page and complete a warm-up before moving on to where they left off.

6. Your Foundations Notebook
You will setup your notebook everyday before you log in to Foundations and greet the Genie.
Write your username and password on the inside of your notebook cover.
Your notebook will always have three things on every page.

Objective
Problems and Theory
Now let me show you how to setup your notebook!
**Depending on your established classroom procedures, you may want to adjust this slide.
Students are expected to set up and use their notebook every day, before they begin using Reasoning Mind.

7. Do you remember what 3 things you need in your notebook? Great job!
This slide will show exactly where students should place their Date, Objective, and Problem/Theory.
Recall: We recommend writing the Problem section on the left to align numbering with the margin, and the Theory section on the right to see topics easily while flipping through a notebook. You are welcome to switch if necessary, but both sections should always be in a notebook.
You may also use a two-page system with students who have large handwriting, but we do not recommend this for every student if desk space is limited around the computer/laptop.

8. What do you write? Problems Theory
Recall: The orange problem bar indicates a Problem that belongs in their notebook. The blue “Write This Down” sticker indicated material that belongs in the Theory section of their notebook and should be written down word for word.

9. What do I write in Theory?
Yes, it does! Remember the blue “Write this Down” sticker!
Does this go in your notebook?
Students “Write This Down” word for word. This is the most important concept they need to take away from the material and will be reviews in the Notes Test.

11. What problems do you write?
Write your answer in your notebook!
Does this problem belong in your notebook?
Yes, it does! Remember the orange “Problem” bar!
Remember to point out that only problems with the orange bar need to be written in student’s notebooks.

12. Emphasize that students should only copy important information from the problem or the steps they took to solve the problem. Student’s should never copy problems word for word, but should always record an answer.

13. What if you get a problem wrong?
Let’s talk about what to do if you get a problem wrong.
That’s okay! Write it down and we will try again, together!

14. Remind students to indicate incorrect answers in their notebook.

15. Write the Genie’s Solution!
Learn from your mistake by reading the Genie’s solution!
Write it in your notebook!
Recall: Student’s should always write the Genie’s Solution when they get an answer wrong! They cannot skip the Genie’s Solution if they answer the problem incorrectly and your Teacher Home Screen will be notified if the student attempts to skip.
