What is UKYP? UKYP = United Kingdom Youth Parliament.
A ‘voice’ for young people aged It is run by young people for young people. Enables young people to bring about change.

What is UKYP? Local and national government
UKYP gives young people a voice which is heard and listened to by: Local and national government Providers of services for young people (like health services) Other organisations who have an interest in the views and needs of young people.

Why should young people have a voice?
Because young people: Have different views to adults and have new, fresh ideas Know what’s important to other young people Should be able to have an influence on what happens in the future

What it means to be a member of Youth Parliament!
Solihull has 1 elected member (MYP) and 1 deputy (DMYP). They will: Campaign on the issues that matter most to young people in Solihull Meet with MPs and Local Councillors on a regular basis as part of their campaign Organise events Meet with other MYPs from all over the UK at regional and national meetings Represent the young people of Solihull at an annual debate at the House of Commons

UKYP Elections Members of UKYP are elected by other young people in Solihull They stay as a member for 2 years Elections take place in February and you can vote at your school Last election 5,500 young people voted
