Key Findings – Ireland The nature of online risk types: The types of risks that stood out for Ireland compared to the global averages included: 1) receiving offensive or obscene content, 2) being called offensive names, and 3) encountering fake news Our social circles became more risky: Within Ireland, risks from family and friends also increased noticeably to 24% (+7%), though the gain was not as pronounced as in other countries The pain from online risks was significant: Within Ireland, moderate to severe pain from online risk exposure was experienced by 51% of consumers, slightly below the global average Consequences were up; positive actions were down: Irish consumers were in line with the WW trend for consequences and were more likely to say they had lost trust in others in the latest year’s survey vs. the prior year Millennials and teenage girls were hit hardest by risks: Slightly more teenage girls in Ireland suffered moderate to severe pain than their global peers (66% vs. 64%) There was a surge in teens asking for help. Irish teens were higher than the global average in asking for help from parents (47%) with an online risk, and in asking for help from other adults (31%) Decline in Microsoft's Digital Civility Index (DCI): Ireland (+4) registered a decline in DCI and ranks #11 of the 22 countries surveyed

More teens asked for help with online risks
Worldwide, there was a surge in teenagers asking for help with online risks from both parents (+32 points to 42%) and adults (+19 points to 28%) In Ireland, teens were higher than the global average in asking for help from parents (47% vs. 42%) and in asking for help from other adults (31% vs. 28%) Asking parents for help jumped 39 points Asking an adult for help rose 23 points Q12: Have you ever taken any of the following actions after you were treated in an unsafe or uncivil manner online?
