2 Appositive phrases The appositive can be short or long.
The appositive will ALWAYS have a comma in front of it and behind it. (and often starts sent.)

3 Appositive phrases Examples:
The insect, a cockroach, is crawling across the kitchen floor. The insect, a large cockroach with hairy legs, is crawling across the kitchen floor.

4 Appositive phrases Try it:
Mrs. Murray, my English teacher, is the best. Put in your own: I went to a clothing store. I went to a clothing store, Aeropostale. I went to Aeropostale, a clothing store.
