2 The Judge’s Requirements

3 The Judge’s Requirements

4 God’s Standard of Righteous Judgment
Knowledge Truth Guilt

5 God’s Standard of Righteous
Judgment (Cont’d) Deeds Impartiality Motives

6

7 of the righteous judgment of God,
Deeds Romans 2 5. …you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

8 Deeds God is not arbitrary in His judgments
6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds” God is not arbitrary in His judgments

9 8…by grace you have been saved
Ephesians 2 8…by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;  it is the gift of God,  9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

10 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

11 …work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
Philippians 2 …work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;  13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

12 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay
1 Corinthians 3 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

13 13 each one’s work will become clear;
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,  13 each one’s work will become clear;

14 …for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire;
and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

15 14 If anyone’s work which (s)he has built on it endures, (s)he will receive a reward.
15 If anyone’s work is burned, (s)he will suffer loss; but they themselves will be saved, yet so as through fire.

16 Deeds – of the Redeemed seek for
Romans 2  7 eternal life [not existence] to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honour, and immortality;

17 Deeds – of the Unredeemed
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—

18 Deeds – of the Unredeemed
…indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil…

19 Blackwater Mercenaries - Yemen

20 “…every soul of man who does evil…”
The contrast here “…every soul of man who does evil…” is as between patriots and self-seeking mercenaries. Without loyalty, mercenaries do not seek anything other than their own glory and reward.

21 God looks upon self-seekers as unrighteous,
fully deserving His indignation and wrath. They earn only tribulation and distress.

22 11 For there is no partiality with God.
God’s Impartiality …to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  11 For there is no partiality with God.

23

24 Partiality “To receive a face”
To give consideration to a person because on who they are

25 God’s Impartiality 12 For as many as have sinned without law [non-Jews and those who have never heard the Gospel] will also perish without law…

26 God’s Impartiality …and as many as have sinned in the law
[Jews and those exposed to the Gospel] will be judged by the law

27 The lost Gentile [outside the law or Gospel]
Principle The lost Gentile [outside the law or Gospel] will just as surely perish as the lost Jew, but,

28 their eternal tribulation and distress
will be less than Jews or Gentiles who have the immeasurable advantage of knowing God’s truth.

29

30 Luke 12 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

31 yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few.
48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few.

32 For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required;
and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.”

33

34 the adversaries. 26 … if we sin wilfully after we have received
Hebrews 10 26 … if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

35 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies
without mercy on the testimony of  two or three witnesses.

36 trampled the Son of God underfoot, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

37 … 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands
of the living God

38 of the law are just in the sight of God,
God’s Impartiality 13 …for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

39

40 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them,
Matthew 7 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

41 for it was founded on the rock.
25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

42 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them,
will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:

43 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it fell. And great was its fall.”

44 God is not arbitrary in His judgments
Nor is He partial in His judgments

45 God’s Impartiality Creation testifies:
14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,

46 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts,
God’s Impartiality Their conduct testifies: 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts,

47 their conscience also bearing witness,
God’s Impartiality Their conscience testifies: their conscience also bearing witness,

48 God’s Impartiality Their contemplation (thought) testifies:
and between themselves their thoughts [alternately] accusing or else excusing them

49 judge the secrets of men
Motive 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

50

51 with a loyal heart and with a willing mind;
Motive 1 Chronicles 28 9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind;

52 …for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the
Motive …for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.

53 of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law
What Next? 13 …for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

54 What Next? 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right
John 1 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children [sons] of God, to those who believe in His name:

55 What Next? I beseech you therefore, brethren,
Romans 12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

56 What Next? 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

57 In remembrance of me

59 There’s Room At the Cross For You
331

60 The cross upon which Jesus died Is a shelter in which we can hide And its grace so free is sufficient for me And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea.

61 there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.
There's room at the cross for you There's room at the cross for you Though millions have come, there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.

62 Though millions have found him a friend And have turned from the sins they have sinned The Saviour still waits to open the gates And welcome a sinner before it's too late.

63 there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.
There's room at the cross for you There's room at the cross for you Though millions have come, there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.

64 through loss or in gain, The blood flows from Calvary
The hand of my Savior is strong And the love of my Savior is long Through sunshine or rain, through loss or in gain, The blood flows from Calvary to cleanse every stain.

65 there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.
There's room at the cross for you There's room at the cross for you Though millions have come, there's still room for one Yes there's room at the cross for you.

66

67 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, in every good work and word.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
