5. …you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation
of the righteous judgment of God, 

8. Deeds God is not arbitrary in His judgments

according to his deeds”
God is not arbitrary in His judgments

9. 8…by grace you have been saved

through faith, and that not of yourselves;

The contrast here
“…every soul of man who does evil…”
is as between patriots and self-seeking mercenaries.
Without loyalty, mercenaries do not seek anything other than their own glory
and reward.

21. God looks upon self-seekers as unrighteous,
fully deserving His indignation and wrath.
They earn only tribulation and distress.

22. 11 For there is no partiality with God.
