3 ACS Trauma Survey Results
THANK YOU ! For everyone’s hard work and effort in preparation and during the survey that made us successful! Some things they liked (there were a lot): Support from administration Training standards to be at the bedside Paper Trauma Flowsheet The thing they didn’t like (they told us several times in many different ways): Switching to EPIC after an hour EPIC charting for trauma

4 ACS Trauma Survey Results
Trauma Charting Starting May 1st at 0700 – For ALL traumas (Alpha, Bravo and Limited) There will no longer be the option of converting to EPIC after 1 hour. All traumas must be charted on the paper Trauma Flowsheet through patient discharge or Upon receipt of admission orders, then you may transition to EPIC

5 ACS Trauma Survey Results
Trauma Charting What do you write in the Narrative? (some examples) The patient ‘story’ – There is a lot covered with all the check boxes but they don’t tell the story. (i.e.: Restrained middle back seat passenger of auto vs back of semi at fwy speed then into rollover down 50 ft ravine – pt found face down 100 ft from car…) Any specific assessment/re-assessment (i.e.: +1 thread Doppler pulses to R. foot…R. foot now cold and mottled, MD aware/OR notified, Dr Gingery enoute) Any procedure – (i.e.: Scalp lac debrided, cleansed, sutured by Dr Azimi…suturing in progress…40fr CT placed L. Chest 600ml initial bloody output – no autotransfusion ordered per Dr Galey) Basically any event or patient change that happens a note can be made in the narrative

6 TRAUMA FLOWSHEET ALGORITHIM
Trauma Paperwork Starts May 1st at 0700 In the last 3 months 19 paper trauma charts have gone missing Where they go?
