Beluga Whale The Beluga Whale is also known as the White Whale have white skin that is adapted to its habitat in the Arctic. The Beluga is also related to another White Whale, the “ Unicorn Whale” or Narwhal The Beluga is also a toothed whale.

Diet Food is not chewed, they tear larger prey but swallow all food whole. Eat over 100 species of marine fish. They hunt cooperatively to conserve energy.

Physical Characteristics
The average weight and height ranges between, lbs. and ft. They are generally pale gray. At birth they are a light brown. The Beluga has about homodont, conical teeth.

Habitat Belugas are found throughout the Arctic with some subarctic populations such as the St. Lawrence and Amur rivers. They can be found in in a wide variety of environments from, deep offshore waters to shallow bays and estuaries.

Fun Facts Their lips can be pursed to form the shape of an “O”.
Teeth are not replaced if lost. Adult Beluga Whales routinely swim at speeds of 2-6 mph.
