What happened?
I learned the many steps involved in converting a course from textbook usage to using Open Educational Resources
What did I do?
Searched for appropriate materials
Learned about the different types of Creative Commons licenses and how to utilize them
Created a review of a resource and saved it in a repository
What did I expect
Less steps involved in using OER
What was different
I heard the phrase “It’s a lot of work” more times than I want to remember

3. So What? Why does this matter to me?
my students can start the semester off with the resources they need.
I don’t have to readjust due dates and grade “late” work
To my students?
They can afford my course
They can do assignments from week one
To the college?
Retention rates are up
More affordable courses mean more students
To society as a whole? 
An educated society supports a strong economy

4. Now what? What will I do differently?
Set up regular appointments with the librarians and the media center gurus
What I have learned? 
More than I thought possible
That I need help and support to create course
Committed to the OER movement?
Excited to give it a try
What I will do to further OER?
Change one or more of my courses to OER
