Examples Quotation Dr. Marilyn Weimer notes that “about 5% of us multitask effectively.” Research indicates that “about 5% of us multitask effectively” according to Dr. Marilyn Weimer. “As a parent, I wonder how much gets done when he is working on so many different things, but this is the new state of normal for today’s teens” (Hill). *****Notice: I am either stating who my author is in my sentence or at the end inside (parentheses).

This is the title of the article
If you Don’t have an author: Use the next thing in your citation (title of article) Ex: In the article, “Teens Against Drunk Driving,” the author states that there is a decrease in teens that drink and drive since the year 2014 (36). Ex: One article’s research stated that there has been a decrease in teen drunk driving since 2014 (“Teens Against Drunk Driving” 36). If you have a page number, include the page number!

Key things to remember Use the author’s name when you can
include page numbers when you can Use the last name of your author in parentheses at the end of what you are saying if you haven’t mentioned their name already. Periods go after the parentheses
