World War 1 a war between the allies (Russia, France, British Empire, Italy, United States, Japan, Rumania, Serbia, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Montenegro) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria- Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria) from 1914 to 1918

Russian Revolution the coup d'etat by the Bolsheviks under Lenin in November 1917 that led to a period of civil war which ended in victory for the Bolsheviks in 1922

Alliances a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations.

Armistice an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain time; a truce.

Dictator a ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained power by force.

Militarism the belief or desire of a government or people that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests.
