Earth’s Layers and movements
Alicia Littlejohn EDU – 225 Instructor Clark January 17, 2015
2
What is inside the Earth?
There is 4 distinctive layers to the Earth. Inner Core – A solid ball made of mostly Iron and Nickel and is nearly as hot as the Sun. Outer Core – It is a liquid layer made out of Magma and helps create the magnetic field. Mantle – The layer between the Outer Core and the Earth’s crust, consisting of hot rocks Crust – The outermost layer of the Earth’s surface

Continental Drift Theory Pangea The movement in the earth’s continents Magma The Breakup of Pangea (1997) Encyclopedia Britannica (2015) Super - Continent Magma forms in the lower part of the Earth’s crust and in the Mantle layer of the Earth. Magma is a hot semi-solid material that consists of molten rock.

Earthquakes: The shaking of the ground, or movement of faults and plates
A break in the Earth’s Surface Discover (2014) Tectonic Plates: Tectonic plates that glide over the mantle layer of the Earth, which can cause movement in the surface, that can cause earthquakes

Earth’s Diagram Materials needed: Instructions
Coloring utensils, IE; crayons, markers, chalk etc. Scissors Construction Paper Tape or glue Create a diagram of the Earth and it’s layers. You can draw, or create a 3D paper diagram Grading will include the following: Creativeness Showing all the layers of the Earth Demonstrating all of the Vocabulary Words
