Defense Activity for Non-traditional Education Support (DANTES)
Element 14 Good morning everyone! I am Angela Devlin and today I will be covering the 14th element of pre-separation/transition counseling requirements. I have been a career counselor for many years, conducted many pre-separation briefs, as well as utilized this program to obtain my four degrees. By a show of hands, how many of you have had Sailors inquire about: CLEP/ACT/SAT testing? Study material? Dates to test? How to sign up? Where the testing site is? Reference: Title 10, United States Code, Chapter 58, Section 1142 Department of Defense Instruction (DODI)

DANTES No-cost education and career-planning programs for U.S. military members. Manages education programs and services to help military members gain knowledge to complete education credentials and college degree programs, advance in their military career, and successfully transition into the civilian workforce. The DANTES program is a: No-cost education and career-planning programs for all U.S. military members. The Defense Human Resource Activity (DHRA) component responsible for managing education programs and services, such as Defense Voluntary Education (VolEd), helping military members gain knowledge to complete education credentials and college degree programs, advance in their military career, and successfully transition into the civilian workforce.

As you can see here, as soon as you access the DANTES website, the homepage will show you the resources available. If you roll your cursor over the Financial Assistance tab, you will see a Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Education Benefits link. This will then take you to the page being displayed. If you click on the plus sign there to the right side of any of the programs, it will display information and other external links for more information.
