Sequence A pattern involving an ordered arrangement of numbers, geometric figures, letters, or other objects. Term of a Sequence An individual number, figure, or letter in the sequence. Infinite Sequence A sequence that continues on forever. Finite Sequence A sequence that terminates (comes to an end).

Arithmetic Sequence A sequence of numbers in which the difference between any two consecutive terms is a constant. Common Difference The difference between any two consecutive terms in an arithmetic sequence. It is typically represented by the variable d. Geometric Sequence A sequence of numbers in which the ratio between any two consecutive terms is a constant.

Common Ratio The ratio between any two consecutive terms in a geometric sequence. It is typically represented by the variable r. Index The position of a term (its term number) in a sequence. Explicit Formula A formula for calculating the value of each term of a sequence using the term’s position in the sequence. Recursive Formula A formula that expresses each new term of a sequence based on the preceding term in the sequence.
