OVERCOMING SHAME

Shame is a soul-crushing, identity warping emotion.

Guilt is the feeling that I did bad. Shame is the idea that I am bad.

“Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. Isaiah 54:4 CSB

“I can be set completely free from the shame of my past.”

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 CSB

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus,
Romans 8:1 CSB

God doesn’t call the qualified; God qualifies the called.

Stop believing something about yourself that God says you are not.

The only way to heal from shame is to move the focus from what I’m not to who Christ is.

I am not ___________ because of Christ I am ___________.

The Lord then said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from you.” Therefore, that place is still called Gilgal today. Joshua 5:9 CSB

Gilgal means “a wheel rolling”.

Take the focus off of you and center your life on who Jesus says you are.

“Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. Isaiah 54:4 CSB
