Reading: Please read with your child each day. When ready children will start to bring home a book to read to you. Please write in the reading record. (Books can’t be changed if the yellow reading book isn’t in the bag)
Tapestry: Please check for Tapestry observations of your children and upload any observations from home.

6. The Curriculum Three Prime Areas:
Communication and Language – children develop skills and confidence in speaking and listening in a range of situations.
Physical Development – children develop their co-ordination, control, and movement through being active. 
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – within clear boundaries children form positive relationships, develop social skills and respect for others and understand appropriate behaviour.
Four Specific Areas  
Literacy – through the daily phonics lesson (Read, Write Inc.) children link sounds and letters and begin to read and write. In addition there is a daily literacy lesson and planned opportunities for guided reading. Fine motor skills development and handwriting are also formally taught and practised. 
Mathematics – through the daily maths lesson (Maths Mastery), this includes short chunks of whole class teaching and focused maths experiences, and maths meetings which include conversations about number, ‘everyday’ maths and oral rehearsal of number sequences and patterns. 
Understanding the World – finding out about people, places, technology and the environment. 
Expressive Arts and Design – exploring a wide range of media and sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design and technology.

7. The End Goal
-Hold a pencil correctly. -Form letters correctly. -Independently get themselves dressed. -Read and understand simple sentences. -Write a simple sentence that we can read and they can read. -Count to twenty and place the numbers in order. -Solve simple addition and subtraction sums.(can use objects to help)

8. P.E. P.E. days are on Mondays.
Please make sure that the children’s clothes are labelled.
Children take PE clothes home at the holidays.
