A Peek At The Week -In reading we are continuing to direct instruction at students’ reading levels. -In Math we are beginning a new module on place value. We will begin discussing how numbers have a tens and ones place. We will use a chart to help us visualize what each value looks like in the 10s and 1’s. -Writing time this week will introduce Non-fiction writing. Students will be working in pairs to create a list of facts about our classroom and our school! -During our Core Knowledge time we will dive into our next Social Studies unit on Early Exploration and Settlement. This week we will learn about Christopher Columbus, the Conquistadors, and the settlement of England in the new world. Homework Ideas -Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - reading homework -Tuesdays and Thursdays - math homework Looking Ahead - February 2nd-16th: Spring Box-Top collection - February 5th no school for students. - February 5th parent/teacher conferences 12-8pm - February 6th- parent/teacher conferences 4-8pm - February 14th- Valentine’s Day party - February 19th- No School/ Presidents Day Extra News -The 100th day of school is coming!!!!! It will be next Thursday, February 8th! We will be celebrating throughout the day! Each child is encouraged to wear something that has 100 things on it, bring a collection of 100 of something, or dress like you are 100 years old It will be such a fun day!!!!! Specials this Week Monday – No School for Students Tuesday- Art Wednesday- Music Thursday- P.E. Friday- Computers **Remember to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days** Reminders -Parent Teacher Conferences are this week! I have enjoyed meeting with families so far and look forward to getting the chance to meet with everyone. Don’t forget to stop by the school book fair!
