Presentation on theme: "Explore Performance Task"— Presentation transcript:

1 Explore Performance Task
For this task, you will be researching a computing innovation that interests you. You will be submitting 2 files to me by the end of class on Monday: A computational artifact that explains the innovation. This could be a video, an audio recording, a graphic, or a visualization. Written responses, including a bibliography. You cannot submit any research that you have done previously.

2 In the Quinn folder, Unit 6, open AP CSP Assessment Overview and PT Directions for Students and read pages 4 to 8 (as labeled on the document). Make sure to read all of the requirements. In the Quinn folder, Unit 6, open “Explore PT 2018 Scoring Guidelines and Notes.” This document is very important! Your grade in this class, as well as on the AP Exam, will be based on this rubric. LOOK AT THE LAST ITEM IN THE RUBRIC FOR AN EXAMPLE OF THE BIBLIOGRAPHY AND IN-TEXT CITATIONS. Go to AP Central’s page about the exam (link). Scroll down to the table with sample responses; we will look at some of them. By reading the “commentary” document, you can see exactly how these projects were graded.

3 When you are done with this PT, you must (not share via OneNote) your 2 files to me, all in the same . The 2 files are: Your computational artifact. Name the file: LASTNAME_EXPLORE_ARTIFACT Your written responses & bibliography, in PDF format. Name the file: LASTNAME_EXPLORE_RESPONSES

4 The Explore PT makes up 16% of your grade on the AP Exam, if you choose to take it.
If you take the exam, your two PTs will be graded not by me, but by an AP Grader, on a scale of 0-8. If you take the exam, YOU are responsible for submitting all parts of the two PTs to Digital Portfolio by April 30. I will also be grading the two PTs towards your grade in this class. My grade may end up being different than the one you get from the AP Grader. I am not allowed to help you with this project. This is not my rule, it is the College Board’s rule.

5 From the Quinn folder, open the “APCSP Digital Portfolio - Student Guide.”
If you are taking the AP Exam in May, it is your responsibility to follow the instructions in this guide and submit your two Performance Tasks (which are 40% of your Exam grade). Now, go to Digital Portfolio (link). Click on Explore, then Individual Written Responses. Then click Create Written Response Template - Word Template. Use this when creating your written responses. (The actual questions/prompts are found in the AP CSP Assessment Overview and PT Directions for Students.) Remember to follow rules for written responses (see “Assessment Overview” and “Scoring Guidelines” in the Quinn folder)
