2. ProBoard is a NATIONAL Certification of proficiency based on NFPA Standards.
ProBoard Certification Offers the Following:
Recognition for demonstration proficiency in meeting the NFPA professional qualification standards
Credibility for fire service members who can benefit from clear evidence of accredited training
Professionalism for those who need documentation, not mere words, about professional standing
Budget Justification for department managers who need an understandable rationale for higher rewards for those with higher knowledge
The Pro Board Registry for a permanent record of accomplishment, available only to those certified Pro Board accredited agencies

3. OK, so why do I care? What’s in it for me?
ProBoard Certifications don’t expire.
You don’t need to retake a course just because a new version comes out
Additionally ProBoard certifications are recognized Nationally
Reciprocity is streamlined (for those of you looking to move, or attending college out of state)
ProBoard Certifications are FREE through the Montgomery County PSTA!

4. How do I get my ProBoard Certification?
Download your unofficial MFRI transcript and print a copy for EACH ProBoard application you submit.
Certification Applications
Select the Course and download the application
Ensure that you meet ALL of the requirements for Certification (including prerequisite ProBoard Certifications)
Fill out the application NEATLY (using Adobe Tools to fill in the .pdf file is preferred)
Sign and date your application
Attach your MFRI transcript with the required courses highlighted to your application.

5. What is a prerequisite ProBoard Certification?
Some ProBoard Certifications have specific training requirements AND prerequisite certifications. These prerequisites are normally listed on page two of the application.
To get a copy of your prerequisite certifications go to and select “Web Based Certification Search”
Fill in the requested information, select “printer version”, print out your ProBoard Certification transcript, and attach it to your application.

Pay no attention to the payment information on the application… ProBoard is free to MCFRS personnel
Staple your completed application and prerequisite certifications (if required) to the highlighted MFRI transcript.
Place them in a inter-office envelope
Deliver the envelope to CPT Frantz Pinthiere at the PSTA
Wait for your Certificates to arrive via Inter-office mail!
