An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behaviour that depends on the predominate social norms.
The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group.

4. East Vs West culture
Confucianism stresses duty, loyalty, honour, filial piety, respect for age, and sincerity. Generally Westerns believe that individuals are the most important, while Asian think individuals are just part of, therefore, subject to, the families and communities they belong.
Chinese word for “Nation” is made up of 2 Chinese characters: Guo means ‘Kingdom’ and Jia means ‘Family.’ This definition of Chinese family is taking care of every member in the family, not just your own family. The Chinese family is built on a hierarchy system. Commonly, the oldest male in the house will control all the family affairs.

5. East Vs West culture
Humility is a revered virtue in Chinese culture. ‘Selling’ too much of self is being boastful and proud. However, most Westerners might consider such humility a sign of weakness.
Direct conflict or confrontation over issues is highly frowned upon.  Doesn’t matter that the “truth” needs to be spoken, respect and honour to each person supersedes that.  Westerners can accept there are different opinions, but facts are facts even if there is some uncertainty or disagreement as to what those facts are.

Children of the West are raised to be independent, know your rights, value study smart, design models for solving problems
Children of the East are raised to be interdependent, respect elders and loyalty, value working hard, relationships over models for solving problems

There are currently two viewpoints or perspectives of multicultural education in the
United States, namely the assimilation or “melting-pot” perspective and the pluralism or
“global” perspective. The assimilation perspective of multicultural education is that microcultures
must give up their original culture and identities in order to blend in or become absorbed
into the predominant Anglo-Western European culture. The global perspective is that microcultures
can retain many of their traditions such as language, religion, and social customs while
adopting many of the aspects of the predominant Anglo-Western culture. The global perspective
of multicultural education recognizes cultural pluralism as an ideal and healthy state in any
productive society and promotes equity and respect among the existing cultural groups.
