Before Surgery in 2004

Father passed away last year
Family has 3 people, mother, elder sister and Wang Mang
Living on farming 6 Mu land by mother
Borrow money from relatives
23 years old boy
Study at Hefei University, major in Mechatronics.
Elder Sister married

3. Wang Mang’s Timeline Born 1995 April 2003 May 2003 April 2003
Born with Congenital Heart Disease with purple lip and fingernail
April 2003
Checked at Hefei Hospital but was told cannot be cured here, need to go to Shanghai
May 2003
After a full check with Prof Pan and Dr. Chen before surgery, we regretfully found that the complexity of his disease is beyond imagination and cannot be cured in Shanghai either.
They can only return home and wait.
They came to Shanghai Chest Hospital for medical check but after paid the examination fee, they have no money to do surgery.
At this time they happened to meet a GOL Huangshan cases so recognize “Gift of Life” program and seek for help from Frank Yih, chairman of GOL at that time and get response.

Due to the family condition, they did nothing until Wang Mang was too sick

Wang Mang had a successfully surgery and was taken good care of by Toronto Clubs

While the family was waiting, under the leadership of Terry Chu & Fiona Fung, Toronto Gift of Life program raised the fund to help Wang Mang

GOL committee didn’t give up.
We asked Wang Mang to come again, recorded his examination details and sent to Canada for help.
Nov 27, 2004
Wang Mang flied to Toronto with the help of Eastern China Airline
Oct 2004
Toronto Sick Children Hospital investigated
Wang Mang’s case and decided to admit him for surgery in Toronto.

5. Wang Mang’s Timeline Now Jan 23, 2005 Oct 2005 Future
Wang Mang is Sophomore in Hefei University and major in Mechatronics.
Wang Mang borrow the student loan when he is a freshman but not he is living on part-time job after studying.

Wang Mang returned to China, no more purple lips or fingernail. Now he can live a normal life without going to hospital all the time

With continuous Love and Care from RC Toronto and HuaQiao Foundation, we build a new house for Wang Mang family so they can have a better living condition and much warmer in Winter
