3 How can you use the CROS portal?
The general (statistical) public: get information on topics of interest Community members: get informed about your project/community/working group – exchange information within the project Community leaders: organise your community efficiently

Browsing the front page This front page section gives direct access to projects, communities and documents

5 Your project or community
Who can access and/or create content? Any member of your group depending on his role Group administrator Group publisher Group editor Group contributor Group member What kind of content can be created? Your role determines the content type you are allowed to create and the associated visibility (public, private or restricted) Page Document (pdf, doc, xls, etc.) News Event Web form Newsletter Forum topic FAQ

The contributor creates private content Keeping interested colleagues informed about activities in an area The publisher makes relevant part of the content public A core group preparing material for a wider group of members The editor works on restricted content Collaboration in your community PUSH: Notifying your community of updates PULL: Be notified when changes are done Sending community newsletters

7 Working together in a project
New: bulk upload by drag-and-drop (e.g. for meeting docs.) Contributor can create/edit private pages or upload private documents in the group Contributor can take an active role in setting the agenda

8 Keeping interested colleagues informed about activities in an area
Administrator or publisher can publish the private content(s) Administrator or publisher can tag document by topic to make it reachable from the CROS front page

9 A core group preparing material for a wider group of members
1) Administrator gives the editor role to member 2) Administrator or publisher makes restricted the content 3) Editors edit and work on restricted content. Once finalised, it's up to administrator or publisher to share the content with regular members by making it “private”,

10 Collaboration in your community
PUSH: Notifying your community of updates Inform the members of your group when you have created or only modify a page/document by clicking on "Send subscriptions notifications" If this is ticked: When you click "save", a message is sent to all group members

PULL: Be notified when changes are done Subscribe on update of content. You will receive an for any modifications of the content. You can subscribe to a community or to a specific page/document Then you can manage your subscription(s) via your CROS account

Sending community newsletters A Group administrator can create and send a Newsletter to all members of his group. He can also ask the portal administrator to send the Newsletter to all CROS portal members. Group administrator
