"Everyone benefiting from connectivity means that it should not matter where you live or how much you earn.   So we propose today to equip every European village and every city with free wireless internet access around the main centres of public life by 2020."

3 Promote free Wi-Fi connections in the main centres of community life
Support Wi-Fi equipment in public spaces (public administrations, libraries, parks, town squares, etc.) to allow all Europeans experience the benefits of the Gigabit Society, in line with the DSM connectivity objectives; encourage and promote innovative digital services developed locally: eGov, eHealth, eTourism, etc.

Over 18,300 municipalities across Europe have registered on the WiFi4EU portal  21% of all European municipalities Over 2,700 Wi-Fi installation companies have registered on the WiFi4EU portal
