7 The Crucible is a political ALLEGORY
Allegory: A story in which people, things, and happenings have another meaning. In the case of The Crucible, a story is told about the Salem Witch Hunts in 1692 to express opinions about the Communist Witch Hunts in the 1950’s.

Most people have fundamental beliefs that they are not willing to compromise. It’s okay to lie if you don’t get caught. Withholding the truth is the same thing as telling a lie. In the American judicial system, the accused is innocent until proven guilty. Going to church makes you a good person. Age does not matter in a relationship. Adultery is acceptable in today’s society. I am willing to accept responsibility for my actions. I would rather die than confess to something I didn’t do. Most people are courageous.
