Diet Consumption of food Varies all over the world. This is a result of: Level of Development Physical Conditions Cultural Preferences Dietary Energy Consumption: The amount of food that an individual consumes. (Calories) Most people on earth gain their calories from cereal grain. (Wheat, Rice, Maize) 90% of all grain production worldwide Protein sources vary from developed to undeveloped countries Developed get their protein from meat Undeveloped from grain

Nutrition and Hunger People need to consume 1,800 cal. Per day for general activity Worldwide average is 2,780 cal. Developed countries average is 3,470 per day. (3,800 is U.S.) Undernourishment: Dietary energy consumption is continuously below the minimum for a healthy lifestyle.

Continued... There are roughly 842 million undernourished people in the world, and 99% of them are in developing countries.
