Mission Coordinating the RIR system and joint RIR activities Promote the multi-stakeholder model and bottom-up policy development Fulfill the role of the ICANN ASO - NRO created by the agreement of the 5 RIRs. NRO run by the NRO Executive Council, each RIR Board appoints his representative to the NRO EC, right now is composed by RIR CEOs The NRO is a coordination point for the RIR

LACNIC % RIPE NCC 29.53% Expenses General operations: USD $643,000 Secretariat, communications, travel, meetings IGF Contributions $200,000 Contribution to ICANN: USD $823,000 Stability Fund Joint RIR provision/pledge of over USD $2.1M 2017 numbers NRO support ASO AC chair travels to ICANN meetings Outreach is mostly focus in Global IGF activities and sometimes ICANN.( printed materials, videos for NRO Booth screen) Communications are for internal coordination (NRO EC, CG, ASO AC, ICANN Board election coordination, IANA Review Committee, etc) i.e webex calls. NRO CG Coordination (meeting room, coffee break expenses) Special extra contribution to the IGF Secretariat and Chair in 2016 for USD. IGFSA 50,000 USD, IGF UNDESA 75,000 USD Stability Fund This initiative is an important precautionary measure that will ensure the stability of the RIR system, and is not linked to any current events. Situations where the fund might be used include natural disasters, military conflict or serious financial distress. The fund is intended to safeguard the core registry and policy support functions of the RIRs, and other areas would generally not qualify for support. Any use of the fund will be overseen transparently by the NRO, and subject to strict financial controls.

ASO Review ASO MoU… “the NRO shall provide a periodic review of the ASO’s effectiveness within ICANN” 1st review conducted in 2011 Timeline and announcements independent-review-2017/ Final report published 8 August 2017 The objective of the review is to determine whether the ASO has a continuing purpose in the ICANN structure, and if so, whether any change in structure or operations of the ASO is desirable to improve its effectiveness in the ICANN structure, and additionally whether the ASO is accountable to the Internet number community when carrying out its responsibilities. The scope of the review shall include all functions undertaken by the ASO in support of ICANN, and in particular with regards to global number policy development and the appointment of individuals to various ICANN bodies including the ICANN Board. Additional known tasks undertaken by the ASO in support of ICANN should be included in the review (such as the development of procedures to make appointments to other ICANN bodies), any questions regarding scope of the review will be determined by the NRO Executive Committee (NRO EC).

Should adjustments be limited to NRO MoU, ASO MoU, and/or ICANN Bylaws Over what timeframes should these adjustments be developed and implemented What strategic aspects should we pay attention to when considering these adjustments?
