5. Seneca Falls Convention
In July 1848 more than 300 men and women assembled in Seneca Falls, New York, for the nation's first women's rights convention

6. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
With Lucretia Mott, she planned the first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls (NY)and authored “Declaration of Sentiments”
Wrote “Woman’s Bible” which criticized organized religion for subordinating women

7. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and The Declaration of Sentiments
The members of the convention released a document modeled after the Declaration of Independence and it was called the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions. It consisted of a preamble followed by 18 grievances against “men” instead of King George and 12 resolutions.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men and women are created equal…”
