Drop – in Sessions 13:00 – 15:00 Mon – Fri Appointments 09:30 – 11:30 Advice with Minor Illness/injury Sexual Health advice, emergency contraception, free condoms Dietary advice Meningitis ACWY and MMR Vaccinations Regular liaison with GP practice/ possibility of prescribing for students registered with Clerkenwell Medical Practice

Medical Conditions If you have a medical condition we advise that you make an appointment to see me to discuss your health needs whilst at University. Please note we have a room, which can be used if you are taken unwell during the day

Meningitis ACWY Vaccination
Meningococcal disease is a rare but life threatening disease It is caused by meningococcal bacteria which is divided into several groups The most common groups are A,B,C,W and Y Young adults are among those at the highest risk of meningococcal disease

What is Meningococcal Disease?
Meningococcal bacteria can cause Meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain) and Septicaemia (blood poisoning) Both are very serious and can be fatal if not diagnosed early Previous vaccinations against meningococcal disease may not protect against all forms of the disease The early symptoms are similar to that of flu.

MMR Vaccination Mumps is an acute viral illness that causes fever, headache and painful swollen glands. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are needed to be fully immunised

What to do in an Emergency
Contact the Nurse Advisor ( 9am-5pm) Contact GP (if registered) Contact NHS 111 Walk in Centre (Angel Medical Practice) 8am-8pm Attend Minor Injuries Unit Attend A&E Call 999 (critical or life threatening situation)
