5 An atrium as the center of a new district.
The heart of the new building complex is the two-storey atrium whose cultural and culinary programme is a major contributor towards the rejuvenation of the new city district. Accordingly, the foyer was designed as a representative meeting and exchange zone. The central multi-functional hall shows the possibilities of dry lining design from end to end.

7 The Erste Campus – the newly constructed headquarter of one Austria’s biggest banks – is a striking landmark of ~25,000 m² in the immediate vicinity of the main station. The central multi-functional hall with a dry lining design from end to end shows dry lining at its best. Strict requirements on fire protection and sound insulation were not the only ones that had to be met. The building owner also placed high demands on appearance, the resilience and durability of the surface.

8 Explain how it was made…
The partition wall separating the multifunctional hall from the foyer was by far the greatest challenge facing the dry lining specialists. Alone the dimensions of the ~ 500 m² multi-layer wall structure with a height of up to 7.30 metres are impressive.

9

10 Explain how it was made…
The partition wall’s V-shaped steel beams also support the entire roof structure, which is why the dry lining naturally had to fulfil every fire protection requirement. With moulded parts precise edges and corners surrounding the glass elements were achieved.

11 Explain how it was made…
Strict demands on sound insulation also had to be met to enable the hall to be used to its maximum acoustic capacity. The control room features a curved and inclined wall slab that is integrated in the room and is also designed as a dry lining structure with flush-fitting glazed elements.

12 Explain how it was made…
Both the interior and exterior surfaces received a Q4 quality level finish with multiple coats to create an appealing visual impression.

13 Key challenges The dimensions of the project were impressive
Demands on Fire protection and sound insulation Utmost precision with regard to measurement and accuracy of execution was needed The partition wall separating the multifunctional hall from the foyer was by far the greatest challenge facing the dry lining specialists. Alone the dimensions of the approximately 500 square metre multi-layer wall structure with a height of up to 7.30 metres are impressive. The challenge was made all the harder by glazed sections arranged in an irregular pattern that provide a glimpse into the hall; the partition wall’s V-shaped steel beams also support the entire roof structure, which is why the dry lining naturally had to fulfil every fire protection requirement. Strict demands on sound insulation also had to be met to enable the hall to be used to its maximum acoustic capacity. The control room features a curved and inclined wall slab that is integrated in the room and is also designed as a dry lining structure with flush-fitting glazed elements. The conical surfaces between the mouldings were closed with plasterboard elements that were cut to size and planned on site. Utmost precision was required to create a visually appealing surface finish. No two parts were the same, so that the dry lining was more akin to carpentry work.

14 Main Saint-Gobain products and systems used
Fire Protection / Glasroc F Ridurit – because of the steel encasement of supporting beams only with Glasroc F Ridurit the high fire regulations could be met Multifunctional Hall High durability and impact resistant / Duraline – Meet the strict requirements placed on the surface hardness of the external side of the partition wall Excellent surface / Rifino Top - Q4 quality level finish Sound insultation / Duo’Tech - provide the necessary sound insulation and enable the hall to be used for different functions Key achievements?

15 Key achievements Meeting the design expectations
Close collaboration between installers and RIGIPS to find proper solutions for the strict requirements concerning fire protection and design
