We are making concerted efforts to have our students enroll in rigorous courses (Advanced Placement [AP] classes).
We are working with the feeder schools (ES and MS) to encourage students to begin challenging themselves in high school.
We are an Equal Opportunity School (EOS).
- 1,685 in AP classes (~68%)* st timers (60%* & 39%)
- 385 White/Asian (77%) Hispanic/Latino (64%)
390 Black/African American (68%) mixed race (71%)
Families need to encourage students to take AP courses in 9th & 10th grade.

6. Although college and career aspirations are high across almost all students, disparities exist in college degree attainment.
Compared to 42% of White and 61% of Asian students, only 23% of African American and 15% of Latino students aged have attained a bachelor's degree or higher.
Despite these disparities, students still have high expectations for themselves…

24. Expanding Academic Rigor
We will continue to educate our feeder schools about the importance of challenging students during elementary school years, as well as during middle school.
We will work with middle school teachers to develop the Learning Mindset skills and behaviors.
We will continue to challenge our GHS students to explore AP courses.

29. Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
AP exams are the natural culmination of a student’s AP course experience
The AP Program offers 38 courses in a wide variety of subject areas. (
The majority of U.S. high schools currently participate in the AP Program.
More than 3,600 colleges and universities annually receive AP Exam scores. Most four-year colleges in the United States provide credit for qualifying scores

30. Earning College Credit or Advanced Placement
Individual colleges and universities, not the College Board or the AP Program, grant course credit and placement. You should obtain a college’s AP policy in writing.

31. How Your Scores and Other Information Are Used
Your Advanced Placement® (AP®) score report is available to you, your designated college (if any), and your high school and school district in July.

33. Test Day
Arrive on time (aka early) for the test. If you are late, you will not be allowed to take the test (After the tests have been unwrapped) If your student has an afternoon test, please note that the exam may last beyond the dismissal time. Typically the tests are over at 3:00 p.m. Students will be given an excused absence for the entire day of their AP Exam. Mr. Tyrell will provide a list of all students testing each exam day to the attendance secretary Students taking the English Language and Composition on May 15th, will test at Bohrer Park.

34. WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM
Several sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers, for all responses on your multiple-choice answer sheet.
Pens with black or dark blue ink
Your 6-digit school code (210560). *Home-schooled students will be provided with their state’s or country’s home-school code at the time of the exam.

35. WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM
A watch that does not have Internet access, does not beep, and does not have an alarm.
Up to two approved calculators with the necessary capabilities if you are taking the AP Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exams. Visit or

36. WHAT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM
A ruler or straightedge only if you’re taking an AP Physics Exam.
Your AP Student Pack and Student I.D.
If applicable, your SSD Student Accommodation Letter, which verifies that you have been approved for a testing accommodation such as braille or large-type exams.

37. WHAT NOT TO BRING TO THE EXAM ROOM
Electronic devices with internet access, cameras’ or recording applications
Books, compasses, protractors, mechanical pencils, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, notes, or colored pencils
Scratch paper; notes can be made on portions of the exam booklets
Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions.
Clothing with subject-related information
Food or drink

38. Getting Your Scores Sign up for a College Board account at:
Check apscore.org after exams to find out when you can access your scores in July.
Sign in at apscore.org using your College Board account username and password.

39. Test Registration
Students and parents should go to the school website and click on the link provided or visit  register.
Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration.
Families may also mail payments to Total Registration, LLC PO Box 398 Eldorado Springs, CO Please make checks, cashier's checks and money orders payable to Total Registration, LLC.

40. Test Registration
Online Exam registration will begin on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:00 AM and end on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 PM.
To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions.
Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end.
When a student registers for their exam(s), we strongly recommend that parents and students are both present to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Students will be given an excused absence for the entire day of their AP Exam. Mr. Tyrell will provide a list of all students testing each exam day to the attendance secretary  

49. Reminders
To get and send your scores, you will need a College Board account.
The address you use to create your account should be the same address you provide on your AP answer sheet. Mismatched addresses can cause a delay in accessing all your scores.
Delays can also be caused by missing or inconsistent information on your answer sheets, such as name, date of birth, sex, and mailing address. Make sure to enter this information carefully.
