3
Questions? Any questions about the requirements of the task up to this point? Questions about bibliography/referencing? Clarifications about the rubric or any elements of the task? Has anyone found anything interesting that they wish to share? Anything that you want to find but are still searching for? Hear from at least 3 students, give them time to think and if no students volunteer try cold calling.
4
Learning intention Please write this down for your own reflection: Understand the requirements of the assessment task and continue working on individual research
5
Success criteria Please copy these down for your own reflection on this class: Understand the process of annotating your assignment so others can interpret your assignment Complete your statement of intentions and show this to the teacher For those who have completed their research outside of class, complete the WW1 pre-knowledge worksheet and hand this in
6
Annotation Make sure to annotate your final product to ensure that it can be understood by others Writing small notes and placing them around the suitcase exhibit will suffice Small notes describing what certain objects are Notes can be stuck to items or put using toothpicks etc. This is an important step to allow anyone to understand why you have chosen specific items to represent your family history How might you go about annotating your task?
7
Research time You will have most of the remainder of class today to work on your assignment and continue your research I will be going to each of you to see how you are progressing By the end of the class I will need to see each person’s statement of intentions – this does not have to be finalized at this stage, but remember that it is part of the assignment If you feel that you have done everything that you can in class and just need to collect artifacts, conduct interviews or put together your assignment, I have an alternative task for you Go over statement of intentions in detail so students know what they are required to do, remind them of backup copy on Weebly site so they can do it electronically. Remind students that it is part of the assignment.
8
Alternative task WW1 pre-knowledge test – some questions to gauge what you know about the First World War at this stage Not expecting you to understand everything about the war at this stage, just as much as you know now This will be our topic once we come back from the Easter break Avoid using your textbook or the internet to answer questions, just try to the best of your ability I will collect this at the end of the class
9
Reflection Any last questions about the assignment?
Any interesting finds that you want to share? Continue working on your assignment at home, conduct research and interviews and try to collect as many interesting artifacts that you can to make your presentation as interesting as possible. If I have not seen your Statement of intentions yet, show me before you leave Remain seated and quietly pack up your things and you may leave once the bell sounds
