Back car riders will wait in the cafeteria.
For the safety of our students, we do not release bicycle riders or walkers during inclement weather. Students will be dismissed either as front or back car riders on “Rainy Day Dismissal” days. Back car riders will wait in the cafeteria. Front car riders will wait in the foyer until their car arrives.

Please spend 20 minutes reading every night!
This should be a combination of your child reading to you as well as you reading to/with them. Homework will be sent home in their daily folder on an as needed basis. Please check your child’s folder daily, if there is additional work it will be found here. SIP students will have homework on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first semester all homework will be in English, and will relate to the language arts first grade TEK being covered in the general ed classes. Homework assignments should take no longer than minutes to complete.

We are always so very thankful and in need of our parent volunteers, especially for our 1st grade team!!! If you are interested in volunteering, please let your child’s teacher know. ☺

Bear Branch BUZZ- Please sign up to receive this by each week, or access by clicking the link on the BBE website. Please read every week, as it contains important information about school wide events and news.

Field Trip- to be determined.
Activity fee- please pay your $25 online (field trips, classroom parties, etc.) Field Trip- to be determined. ***Each student will be required to bring in their own headphones/earbuds to use daily in class. These need to be left at school the entire year. Please label with your child's name. These may be purchased from Dollar Tree, however I would buy several pairs as they have a tendency to break.

For the most recent updates from the 1st grade teachers, please download the Class Dojo App and your child’s teacher will send a sign up handout with more information. Make sure to have your notifications turned on to receive updates.

Thinking Snack & Water Only!
First grade will have one snack break. This snack needs to be healthy and something they can eat with their fingers. *Please do not send yogurt, dips, fruit cups etc. (These will be saved for lunch!)* While we encourage our students to stay hydrated, WATER is the only liquid allowed in the classroom. Please send water in a sports top bottle. This will reduce the amount of ruined work due to accidental spills.

Birthdays! You may purchase ice cream tickets in the cafeteria 2 weeks in If you choose to bring a treat (cupcakes, cookies, or something easy to pass out) for your child’s class, please note these will be handed out during your child’s lunch time. Please arrange this with the teacher prior to the date. *No party invitations will be passed out during school hours. See district handbook for policy.
