A sentence must have: A subject A verb And a complete thought

Subject a noun or pronoun that comes before and controls the main verb. My dog ate the treat. My dog is the subject

Verb A word used to describe an action. Ate is the verb
My dog ate the treat. Ate is the verb

Examples David plays the piano. The police interviewed all the suspects. Test: change it to a question.

What can’t you do? You cannot take two incomplete sentences and make it complete by adding a comma.

Coordinating Conjunction
Takes two complete sentences and connects them with a comma followed by the coordinating conjunction. FANBOYS For And Nor But Or Yet So

Examples To survive the fetal pig dissection, Rinalda agreed to make all of the incisions and Frances promised to remove and label the organs. Kyle refused to eat the salad served with the meal nor would he touch any green vegetable put on his plate.

Joe spent seven hours studying calculus at the library so now he can ace the test.
While I am at work, my dog Floyd sleeps on the bed and my cat Buster naps in the bathtub. My dog Floyd has too many fleas and too much hair. My cat Buster has beautiful blue eyes but a destructive personality.

Highlighting Your Own Paper
Introduction Blue: Hook Pink: Background Info Green: Argument P.E. should be banned because reason one, reason two, and reason three. DO NOT HIGHLIGHT IF IT IS INCORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Box anything in that needs to be cited and is NOT. Make a key at the bottom

Body Paragraphs Highlight BOTH of your body paragraphs
Blue: Topic Sentence Make sure it does not say ______ should/should not be banned because…. Green: Evidence Need to have 2 or 3 pieces of evidence. Number the evidence Make sure it’s cited correctly. Pink: Your own words You cannot only used evidence. Add in your own thoughts about the evidence you used. DO NOT HIGHLIGHT IF IT’S NOT THERE!!!!

You receive a zero for this activity. If you do not have the paragraphs, you receive a zero and it cannot be made up.
