Damage during quakes Formation of lakes and ponds due to sinking of the land, most notably Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee Sinking of large tracts of forest, so much so that some of the tree tops were visible at eye-level Courses of rivers and streams changed due to changing topography from the uplifts and faulting during the quakes Flooding Fissures Extrusions Creation of domes; Blytheville Dome near the Missouri line with 7-10 mile radius and Little River Dome west of St. Francis River were both created from the New Madrid quakes Total destruction of Little Prairie, 30 miles south of New Madrid Water spouts Landslides along the bluffs resulting in the destruction of livable land Landslides into the Mississippi river which caused huge waves that overwhelmed boats and washed others on shore. Sand bars gave way and islands disappeared Waterfalls appeared where portions of the riverbed were uplifted Structures were damaged in Louisville, KY, 400 miles away from the epicenter
